Brother's Soup Recipe
Sop Saudara is a South Sulawesi specialty that is a pity to miss. Just like Makassar's coto, which is made from beef, Sop Saudara adds soun and cakes to the bowl of the dish. Come on, cook it at home with the following practical and authentic recipe.
Ingredients
- Beef, diced - 250 grams
- Cinnamon - 1 knuckle
- Salt - 2 tsp
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Broth powder - 1/2 tsp
- Water - 3 cups
- Cooking oil - 3 tbsp
- Ground spices:
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Shallots - 6 pieces
- Pecan - 2 pieces
- Turmeric - 1/2 finger joint
- Nutmeg - 1/4 grain
- Cumin - 1 tsp
- Coriander, roasted - 1 tsp
- Other Seasonings:
- Lemongrass, bruised - 1 stick
- Ginger, bruised - 1/2 piece
- Galangal, bruised - 3/4 pieces
- Coarsely sliced lime leaves - 2 pieces
- Complementary:
- Soun, brew hot water then drain - 50 grams
- Potato Chips - 3 pieces
- Green onion, finely sliced - 1 stick
- Fried onions - to taste
- Purchase ingredients and cooking utensils

- In a saucepan, add beef and water. Boil the meat until completely tender. Remove and set aside the meat, then cut into small pieces. Set aside the broth from the beef stew.
- Heat the oil. Saute ground spices until fragrant.
- Add other spices except cinnamon. Saute again until wilted. Turn off the fire.
- In a saucepan, bring the beef broth to a boil again.
- Add the sauteed spices, cinnamon, salt, sugar, powdered broth, and meat. Stir well and cook until it boils and the spices are absorbed. Correct the taste then turn off the heat.
- Arrange the vermicelli, cakes, spring onions, and fried onions in a bowl. Flush with soup.
- Ready to be served.
