Megono Rice Recipe
Almost every region in Indonesia has a special rice dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of typical side dishes as well. For example, Nasi uduk, Nasi Kapau, Nasi kuning, and Nasi Megono are typical of Pekalongan. The main dish is white rice with megono, which is chopped young jackfruit cooked with grated coconut, kecombrang flowers, melinjo leaves, and other concoctions of spices. - Ground spices:
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Shallots - 4 pieces
- Kencur - 3 knuckles
- Candlenut - 2 grains
- Cayenne pepper - 3 pieces
- Coriander - 1/2 tsp
- Grilled shrimp paste - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Brown sugar - 1 tsp
- Purchase ingredients and cooking utensils

- Prepare a steaming pot/cooker.
- Arrange in a saucepan: Bay leaves, lime leaves, and galangal in the lowest position. Followed by chopped jackfruit, melinjo leaves, kecombrang, petai, red chilies, and grated coconut. Cover / put ground spices in the top position. Steam for 30 minutes. Turn off the fire.
- Mix all the steamed evenly. Correction taste.
- Arrange white rice on a serving plate. Give megono or a mixture of the above.
