Maryam Bread Recipe
Bread maryam which is also known as roti cane/canai can be served in 2 variations, namely salty-savory and sweet. Maryam bread is combined with beef curry for a salty variation. While the sweet variation usually combines maryam bread with sweetened condensed milk, meises, and grated cheese.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 500 grams
- Egg - 1 egg
- Egg yolk - 1 egg
- Milk powder - 25 grams
- Salt - 1/2 tsp
- Cooking oil - 100 ml
- Warm water - 200 ml
- Margarine, for spread - 200 grams

Plans
- In a bowl, mix the eggs, cooking oil and warm water. Just mix well.
- Add flour, milk powder and salt. Knead until completely smooth.
- Prepare a baking sheet that has been greased with cooking oil.
- Divide the dough into 10 equal parts and round it.
- Arrange the dough in a baking dish and grease it with cooking oil so that the surface does not dry out. Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let it rest for 1 hour.
- Take 1 dough and then thin it by pressing. Grease the entire surface with margarine. Roll the dough into an elongated shape. Pull each end and make a circular shape, opposite each other like the letter S. Then stack the two circular halves. Flatten by pressing with the palm of the hand.
- Heat a non-stick frying pan or Teflon. Toast the maryam bread until brown on both sides. Lift.
- Ready to be served.
- 1. If the maryam bread will be stored in the freezer, then bake the maryam bread until it is just cooked, no need to brown it.
