Hunkwe Layer Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- Hunkwe flour - 150 grams
- Wheat flour - 100 grams
- Granulated sugar - 125 grams
- Coconut milk, from 1 coconut - 750 ml
- Salt - 1/2 tsp
- Vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- Pandan paste - 1/2 tsp
- Chocolate paste - 1/2 tsp
- Vegetable oil, for greasing - to taste

- In a bowl, mix coconut milk with sugar, salt and vanilla. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add hunkwe flour and flour. Stir well until there are no lumps.
- Divide the dough into 3 parts. Give one part pandan paste and stir until smooth. Give one part chocolate paste and stir until smooth. One part of the rest, leave it white.
- Heat a steamer/cooker pot on the stove.
- Prepare a baking sheet and grease it with oil. Take 1 tablespoon of the brown dough and pour it into the pan. Place the pan in the steamer and steam covered for 5 minutes.
- Take 1 tablespoon of the white batter and pour it into the pan, on top of the green layer. Cover the pot and continue steaming for 5 minutes.
- Take 1 tablespoon of the green mixture and pour it into the pan, on top of the chocolate layer. Cover the pot and continue steaming for 5 minutes.
- Repeat steps 5-6-7 and alternate until all the dough is used up. Last time, steam the cake for 15 minutes until cooked.
- Remove the tin and allow it to cool, then remove the cake from the tin. Slice the cake to your desired thickness.
- Ready to be served.
- 1. Steam the dough using Tupperware Steam It (see Lazada DISKON) which consists of 2 stacks, so you can steam in large quantities at once without overlapping each other. The heat is evenly distributed, so that the level of doneness of each layer will be perfect.
