Grandson Bayao Recipe
South Sulawesi is also famous for its rich street snacks. Similar to talam cake, cucuru bayao is made from only 2 ingredients! Uniquely, after steaming, this cake must first be soaked in sugar water until it is completely absorbed. Then the cake is ready to be enjoyed.
Ingredients
- Duck eggs - 5 eggs
- Walnuts, mashed - 100 grams
- Tray mold - to taste
- Sugar Water:
- Granulated sugar - 100 grams
- Water - 200 grams
- Purchase ingredients and cooking utensils
Plans
- Heat the steaming pot/cooker and don't forget to wrap the lid with a clean cloth. Prepare the mold and lightly grease the surface with oil. Set aside.
- In a bowl, break the eggs and mix until fluffy.
- Add the crushed walnuts. Stir until well blended.
- Pour the mixture into the mold but not too full. About 3/4 full the height of the mold.
- Steam the cake for 15-20 minutes until cooked. Turn off the heat and open the lid of the pot. Let the cake cool.
- Sugar Water: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir well and cook until boiling and golden brown. Turn off the fire.
- Remove the cake from the mold then enter / soak in sugar water. Leave it until the sugar water is absorbed.
- Ready to be served.
- 1. Must use duck eggs. This is the hallmark of the cucuro bayao cake.
