South Sulawesi is also famous for its rich street snacks. Similar to talam cake, cucuru bayao is made from only 2 ingredients! Uniquely, after steaming, this cake must first be soaked in sugar water until it is completely absorbed. Then the cake is ready to be enjoyed.

Ingredients

  • Duck eggs - 5 eggs
  • Walnuts, mashed - 100 grams
  • Tray mold - to taste
  • Sugar Water:
  • Granulated sugar - 100 grams
  • Water - 200 grams
  • Purchase ingredients and cooking utensils

Plans

  • Heat the steaming pot/cooker and don't forget to wrap the lid with a clean cloth. Prepare the mold and lightly grease the surface with oil. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, break the eggs and mix until fluffy.
  • Add the crushed walnuts. Stir until well blended.
  • Pour the mixture into the mold but not too full. About 3/4 full the height of the mold.
  • Steam the cake for 15-20 minutes until cooked. Turn off the heat and open the lid of the pot. Let the cake cool.
  • Sugar Water: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir well and cook until boiling and golden brown. Turn off the fire.
  • Remove the cake from the mold then enter / soak in sugar water. Leave it until the sugar water is absorbed.
  • Ready to be served.
  • 1. Must use duck eggs. This is the hallmark of the cucuro bayao cake.
