Pumpkin Frame Recipe

When it comes to traditional cakes that I rarely make because they are quite complicated and time-consuming, then bingka is one of my favorite cakes. Besides being easy to make, it also tastes sweet and savory with a soft texture, super duper yummy ! I like this type of cake that is dense but soft like this. My first introduction to bingka was when I was studying in Yogyakarta. There is one food stall that sells Banjarmasin specialties and cakes with flower shapes the size of the palm of the hand are also displayed on the table. Usually green pandan flavor and yellow without coloring. Unfortunately the texture is not soft and melts in the mouth, too hard, dense and not tasty. So at that time I thought this cake was not very comfortable in the mouth.

My second introduction to bingka, took place in Kuala Lumpur. Stranded in KL Sentral, the central station in Kuala Lumpur which is super large and full of great food stalls. There is one kiosk that sells ready-to-eat nasi lemak because it's already wrapped and all you have to do is grab it, this kiosk also sells various flavored bingka cakes. That's the first time I've seen so many variants of bingka cakes and they all look delicious. The cake looks soft in texture, and shiny means it contains a lot of butter and coconut milk. The first day there, I only bought 2 pieces of cake which I brought back to the hotel. Instantly regretted why I only bought 2 pieces, because the taste was oh so yummy!
